What is the difference between a C-curve and a D-curve circuit breaker?

A C-curve breaker, like this NG125N, is designed for general purpose applications with moderate inrush currents, like lighting and standard outlets. A D-curve breaker has a higher magnetic trip point and is used for circuits with very high inrush currents, such as large transformers or motors.

While technically possible, the NG125N is an industrial-grade breaker with a high breaking capacity (25 kA) designed for commercial or industrial distribution boards. Residential panels typically use breakers with lower breaking capacities (e.g., 6 kA or 10 kA) and this unit may not physically fit in a standard consumer unit.
