A flush mountable sensor, like this NBN8 model, can be installed so its sensing face is level with the surrounding metal mounting surface without affecting its performance. A non-flush (or non-embeddable) sensor requires a metal-free zone around its sensing face and typically offers a longer sensing range for the same size.
