FAQ

Non-flush mountable means the sensing face of the sensor must protrude from the surrounding metal mounting surface. This design creates a larger magnetic field, allowing for a longer sensing range compared to a flush-mountable equivalent. Mounting it flush would interfere with the field and cause unreliable operation.

You can perform a simple bench test. Connect the brown wire (BN) to the positive (+) terminal and the blue wire (BU) to the negative (-) terminal of a 10-36VDC power supply. Then, connect a multimeter in voltage measurement mode between the black wire (BK) and the negative terminal. When a metal object enters the 2mm sensing range, the multimeter should read the supply voltage. When the object is removed, it should read close to 0V.

The standard PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) cable is suitable for general-purpose automation applications with moderate movement and limited exposure to oils. For applications involving high-flex cycles (e.g., on a robot arm) or constant exposure to aggressive coolants and oils, a sensor with a PUR (Polyurethane) cable would be a more durable choice. For this model, ensure the cable is protected from excessive abrasion and harsh chemicals.
