What is the difference between a Type J thermocouple and other types like Type K?

A Type J thermocouple (Iron-Constantan) has a more restricted temperature range (-40 to +750 deg C) but offers higher sensitivity (about 50 microvolts/deg C) compared to Type K (Chromel-Alumel). It's crucial to use Type J extension wires and instrumentation to avoid measurement errors.

Can the braided cable on this TC10 be submerged or exposed to harsh chemicals?

The braided cable provides mechanical protection but is not inherently sealed against moisture or chemical ingress. The IP rating typically applies to the sensor head. For submerged applications or exposure to corrosive media, a different sensor construction with a sealed, solid sheath (like a thermowell) is recommended.

Does this thermocouple require a separate transmitter, or can it be connected directly to a PLC?
