What is the principle of measurement for the Levelflex FMP51?

The FMP51 uses guided wave radar (GWR). High-frequency microwave pulses are guided along a probe. When the pulse hits the surface of the medium, it is reflected back to the transmitter. The device measures the time-of-flight to accurately calculate the level.

Can this FMP51 model with a 316L stainless steel rod be used in corrosive media?

The probe is made of 316L stainless steel, and the seal is FKM (Viton), which offers good resistance to many chemicals, oils, and high temperatures. However, for highly corrosive media like strong acids or bases, you must verify the chemical compatibility of both 316L steel and Viton with your specific medium to ensure longevity and safety.
